I think that this book has been way better than it was before. I used to think that there was too much conversation and nothing is happening but now there is more action which I really like. I think that the Wave has been getting a bit over dramatic, well the students are because it is intense how Brian was yelling the motto’s after he fought Deutsch, or the anonymous  letter about a kid almost being forced to join before its too late. The group is starting to get a little carried away since all of the students are only worrying about the Wave. All they want to do is about the wave,recruit, special treatment to each other Wave members ,bodyguards in a high school. It is just a bunch of nonsense what they are doing it is just going to go too far, and Ben is even saying that it wont go any farther then he will let it go, yet he doesnt have very much control over it, the group is more ran by the community, not the leader or creator. I think that this is starting to mean that the group isn’t ran by the leader, only guided.

So far I think that the book is getting really close to a dramatic part. There has been a really good start on how the group is made and based on what the main things in a group that are needed and things that just make the group run, making the Wave a true group. I think that there has been amazing changes in Robert him being the class loser now he is one of the popular people with the amazing boost of confidence. My favourite character is probably Robert since he just seems like if he tries on anything it isn’t appreciated and I like how now that just a single little classroom experiment has boosted his confidence, made him feel happy and appreciated what he is not used too and he just feels amazing. I think that the Wave itself is actually getting to be more of a positive group then I thought it was going to be because of all of the conversations you read between Mr.Ross and his wife which makes him sound totally harmless. But the one thing that worries me is that the main quote from the cover of the book is “the classroom experiment that went to far” and that there are so many people getting into the group, yet there are a few that thinks it’s a bad idea including Laurie and her mother. I’m still not to sure what I think of this book this far yet even though we are at the halfway point I don’t really know enough about things in the book it seems not detailed enough or even the actions they are not of my liking I like having real live events happening throughout the book like in most of the books and series I read, this is kind of book not of my liking but its good for making you think of what is happening getting you interested of what the group is actually going to do, I guess that’s the power of a group. I usually wouldn’t like reading this for a normal spare book, but it is a good book that works on your brain for a novel study choice. In other words its just not my type of book.

The book so far has been telling about the main characters in the book, There are so far 2 characters that are followed in the story from their point of view, Laurie Saunders a straight “A” student, and Ben Ross a high school history teacher. Ben Ross had played a film in class about the concentration camps, showing everything,even the killings, and people going into the gas rooms. Mostly all of the class was utterly disturbed by the video especially  her. She waited after class while her friends and boyfriend leave for lunch to ask Ben Ross a question about the video “How could the Germans sit back while the Nazis slaughtered people all around them and say they didn’t know about it?”. Which Ben  had no answer to he couldn’t give her a strait up answer all he could tell her is that the Nazi’s were feared and that the rest of the population’s doing it to is a mystery. 

So far the book has done well explaining the people by description including all of the grades and how some can do better or just trying to get the same grades as their friends to not feel like they are better, and all of that stuff how the teacher is not good at using anything computer or video related. The book also explains all of the people who are not the main characters, by saying that they are the jockey smart people or a person that is a loner and doesn’t try at anything because his brother was amazing and he thinks that people will think he has to be like his brother even though he is nothing alike his wildly smart and popular brother that everyone knows and likes.

The book starts me wondering what Ben Ross is planning for his class that he need’s so much research for an experiment hes going to do on his class. Since he is researching so much and the books slogan is “The Classroom Experiment That Went too Far”. I think that the experiment might be to make a group that ends up going bad after people of the classroom join it and they will stay through it even thought they know it’s actually bad, like how the germans didn’t fight back to the Nazi’s.

So far I think that the book has started off well with the video of the concentration camps scaring all of the class to wondering why the germans didn’t stop any of the stuff that was happening and lying about it, untill they were officially caught about the camps then they said they were forced to. Great first few chapters.

Max Vandenburg is a very interesting character towards Liesel there is a lot of  “Man vs Himself” types of conflict. He is very worried about the Memimger’s since there being so nice to them but at any moment they can be killed or be sent to concentration camps because of keeping Max in their home which lead Max to leave a few chapters ago. Which I dislike that he left. Max has been living the most terrible life for the last while he was hiding in a basement for about 3 years and the only time he got to look outside was during a bombing with the whole town hiding in the crowded basements of few houses that had been able to be used to hide in and he could only look through a partly open curtain and a window.

There is more “Man vs Man” conflict on how while Max was in the basement as a Nazi soldier was looking in the Memimgers basement measuring it to see if it could be a place as a bomb shelter. Max was in the basement holding a pair of rusty scissors hiding as the Nazi measured, as he was about to stab the Nazi with them. After the Nazi left the Memimgers seen he was with scissors as he nervously said that he was not going to use them.

One of the main conflicts for Max but not much to write about since its pretty main subjected is “Man vs Society” since most know about in World War Two and that Hitler killed off millions of Jewish people. Leaving Max to be fighting against Germany. It would be really scary to be wanted like he is, since firstly their are only very few people that actually know of his extinction but now no one knows if hes alive or where he lives since he left out the Memimgers backyard of their house since Hans Huberman Liesel’s foster-father was now known as a Jew lover which meant people were getting suspicious of them hiding a Jewish person. Which now might tie in a bit of Man vs Nature, since he walked out into the wild. Well that it for now seeya.

Witnesses described that tonnes of earth came tumbling down a sheer rock face at 3 am, which is just a strait up and down rock kind of like what people rock climb on just  flatter. Many of the houses that were destroyed almost instantly during the mudslide.

I think the worst part of the mudslide was that the power of how large the current on the mudslide was it would pull people down the current within seconds they would be sucked under the watery mud which would be close to impossible to get out. There isnt much that the emergency workers can do know. Since probably all of the people lost in the mud are probably dead by now. There isn’t much on the internet about this topic since it happened yesterday morning and there still searching so that’s it for now. Seeya

But still there were about 27 deaths,of which were of Iranian, Iraqi and Kurdish asylum seekers, which are refugees which are people who are afraid of being persecuted because of either their race,religion,nationality or being a member of a type of group. But back to topic. The incident occurred on Christmas Island by crashing into sharp cliffs 10 days before Christmas, there were dozens of Australians who watched the tragedy from the shore unable to help the many people of which were men women and even children.The Australians who tried to help would throw life vest’s to the people but the waves and wind would blow them right back to shore.

The survivors of the crash are getting held in an offshore detention centers since they cant just not let them into the country since they were shipwrecked.(more information on why they were sent to detention centers here) I think that the Australian government should not be putting the people in detention centers since Indonesia apparently does not mind that the refugees are going to Australia,neither do the other countries since they all say its Australia’s problem not theirs which I think Indonesia should take their refugees back and keep them in their country, since Australia shouldn’t have to deal with the refugee’s. So that’s it for now since not to much news about it has been released.

Well firstly Rudy is a German boy who is white skinned, blond haired and blue eyed which his father says “beautiful blond and safe blue eyes”. Which you can see from the picture below. Rudy is best friends with Liesel the main character in The Book Thief. Rudy is my favourite character in the book. It seems like Lesiel hates him at times but she knows that she could’nt stand that town without him and Hans her foster father.

Rudy Steiner is a pretty entertaining since he’s just  so out there and will do stuff he believes in, like how he is obsessed with Jesse Owens which I wrote about in my last post, that he actually covered himself  with charcoal to make himself as black as Jesse and ran down the street yelling hes Jesse Owens which is kind of funny if you ask me.

Rudy  really  likes the main character Liesel since he keeps asking her to let  him kiss her and to try to get it he raced her if she won she never had to be goalie in soccer and  if he won he got to kiss her, except no one won, which I’d say he is a “player” for doing that.  Rudy is just one of the main characters that just make people laugh which most book’s, movie’s or show’s have which just makes him liked by  most people. Rudy seems like he is a character something will happen to it happens almost all books usually it ends up the main characters closest family or best friend something tragic will happen and it will make the end of the book memorable and sad.

He also got a medal in the 200 meter dash,400 meter relay and in his 100 meter dash he finished his race in 10.3 seconds! Doing all that while he was getting disgraced because he was black.

Personal Life

James Cleveland Owens was born September 12, 1913 in Oakville, Alabama and died March 31, 1980 in Tucson, Arizona and buried in Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago.
Jesse Owens was son to a sharecropper named Henry Owens, which is basically someone rents you land that you farm on and they get a bunch of your crops and you just get enough to feed your family also he his grandfather was a slave. Jesse mothers name was Emma and had 6 brothers and sisters. He was also married to a woman named Ruth and had 3 kids named Gloria, Beverly and Marlene. He also went to Cleveland East Technical High School then to Ohio State University. Here is his U.S team.

Why was Jesse Owens important to World War 2?

Jesse Owens was part of world war 2 since he was competing in the 1936 Berlin Olympics following with the start of ww2 in 1939. Jesse Owens shocked the world in getting 4 gold medals and being the fastest person in the world. Hitler was the most surprised at this since he thought Germans were better than everybody else, so he thought they couldn’t be beaten because of that Hitler did not hand out medals for that to anyone but Germans, since they were different. But even all the conflict about him having black skin, and be different meaning he wasn’t even aloud to sleep in the same hotel as other white competition.  He still didn’t care and just tried his hardest to win at his sports.
